Gotta wrap these in that black mesh vinyl I did the amp holders in

IMAG0601.jpg

IMAG0603.jpg

So I am in love with sundown, they hit so hard, and its a very clean note, with no delay. My voltage is pretty good up to 33/38 volume, holds at 13.8 around, but once I push up past that, like ful tilt, 38/38, I hit down as low as 11.2 with the voltage, but it dips up and down, many times sticking at 12.3ish or so. I have the biggest alt I can get for my car, and this setup demands around 470 amps of power, on top of the car usage on full tilt, so I would say its doing pretty good. They lowest I dipped was 10.8, but that was after blasting it on full tilt for awhile

To Do:

Cover the Top baffle piece

Run another + 1/0 to the back

Run a - 1/0 gauge to the back

Get a clamp meter to test output

Use the deadener I won in the doors for upped sound quality

Super Glaze the inside of the box Come summer for a harder surface, better airflow

Overall my build sound wise is done, the bass is shaking the EQ and Crossover so much that it is changing the levels for the gains on them, so I may devise a way to spring mount them so they don't get as much shock and get destroyed

  • 3 weeks later...

So Kicker Sent me a new crossover, and I decided to mount them with some shock absorbtion, since the ceiling was flexing so bad that it was beating the shit out of the eq and crossover. it works perfect btw, the eq and crossover just float while the bass hits, the springs keep them centered without any extra vibration, and it takes all the energy out.

I will get a video up soon of it working. This should also help with them overheating in the summer with the extra space between the ceiling, since it gets really hot in this car with all the deadening. I plan to build a fiberglass piece to cover them and put fans in them that may run 24/7, with a very low amperage pull, just to keep them from getting hot, at least in the summer

ALSO:

I shortened the 1/0 gauge run of wire to the back by 4.25 ft, so my voltage should hold better, this cold weather is giving me shitty voltage on high volume, but when its 32+ degrees it holds well in the 13-14's, and at the lowest the 12's, in this cold weather though it drops to the 11's :/ I rerouted it in the engine bay and had some extra in the rear, so ended up with a nice solid piece of cable I can use for something now :P
