Jordan Guess Posted October 6, 2012 Author Report Posted October 6, 2012 Gotcha. My problem is that I'll be trading my 15" to my friend who has two fully loaded Fi Q 12s but they are D2 (I feel that the Qs could be worth more than a frankenwoofer tc sounds lms 4000). Which means I'm gonna have to sell those to get some d1s or 4s it seems, unless I can find a trade across. Any idea what the running rate of a fully loaded Q is these days that's used? (Reason why I asked about the .5 ohm is because of the Q's). But no upgraded alternator, only the 120 amp stock one. Would that be able to charge a second batt wired to the back and leave me okay with the Aq2200 at 1 ohm?
AI James Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 .5 sucks juice and fast. if you can keep voltage up the amp should be find because you will get rise. but extra battery for sure. worse case get the subs and learn to recone.
Jordan Guess Posted October 6, 2012 Author Report Posted October 6, 2012 alright, if im getting to much drop, ill just switch out the subs or see if i can find some cheap recones.
DustinBolt Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 you can always just get the qs reconed it would be alot cheaper than getting new ones 1997 BMW 528i Fi ssd 12 6th order box Build Log- http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/144835-rebuild-in-the-bmw-6th-order-time-update-1113/
AI James Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 only buy recones from fi. they know thier subs better then anyone else will.
poorfish88 Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 You could run 2 smaller amps at 1ohm, one on each sub. I'd do that before running at .5ohm.
Jordan Guess Posted October 6, 2012 Author Report Posted October 6, 2012 i figured ide save myself money by selling the two Qs and buying subs that can match the AQ2200 though (fully loaded Qs seem like they could handle much more than 1100 each)? i dont think i could get 2 amps cheap enough for the value of the AQ2200 could i?
poorfish88 Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 I was thinking that you could keep your subs, if you ran two amps. Your right about the cost of two amps being more money, but it's still better than running .5ohms. I'd run at 2 ohms with the amp you have not .5ohm. Just way too much stress on equipment. Imho
Jordan Guess Posted October 6, 2012 Author Report Posted October 6, 2012 looks like ill be making two WTT posts lol, one for either trading D2s for D1s or a AQ2200 for two amps thats rms around 1k each and can link em xD...maybe ill get lucky.
wichovr6 Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 Dude drop that aq to .5 I would just throw a big battery In the back you should be good on voltage 97 cherokee 2x 15 ns v1@32h crescendo 5500 (soon to b ns-1) xs d3100's
