I used expanding foam pretty much everywhere to keep my cabin separate from te trunk, so it keeps the noise pretty isolated. The lock is mostly there to keep it from sliding around when I stop and go. I just ha the things laying around the garage so I used em for a quick fix. But to answer the question, no you can't.
