For you older guys

Though, I'm still a kid, my dad, who's 50 now, used to tell me how things used to be back in his day.

- He told me he had a Radioshack pong console, and his brother used to have an Oydyssy

- The Television only had 3 channels to pick from

- Alot of cars didn't have power steering

- When he called, he had to speak to an operator, and used rotary phones

- My grandma used to have the biggest in the neighborhood, which was 27 inches

- Audio wise, he told me he had a reel to reel tape player, and of course the usual analog players, like a turntable, tape player, and whatnot.

- The banking system was more human based, and he remember the atm, and credit card coming out

- He used to work with computers the size of rooms, and he learned analog computing (making programs by connecting wires)

- His first calculator was a slide rule(he still has it), and his first advanced calculator was an HP with red LEDS, and he had to plug it into the wall.

- He used to tell me that when he went to the arcade, he loved playing pong, and he was a big fan of pac man, and tetris

- He told me Commdore 64 was ridiculously expensive

Moving on to the 90's

- Having a phone was so expensive, he had to rent it, and the company he worked for who rent one for him.

- Me and my brother had to ask him permission to use the computer, and nobody could use it when he wasn't home, not even my mom

- He used to make programs (he's a software engineer), and store them on diskettes when he used to run Windows NT

- His 1st computer was $1500 for something basic so he could work from home.

Just think of the things you'll be talking about in 20-30 yrs. 1500 for a computer that does less things that some watches can do now. Sad isn't it. Dang almost all of the stuff in your post I can remember lol. A good comparison of how far our technology has come. Our smartphones have more computing power than the first and second space shuttles.

I too am surprised how advanced phones have gotten, I used to have a Windows 2000 with like 500 mb's, and a Pentium 4, and 10 years later, my friend shows me his fancy HD2 with the same specs as that old computer but a faster cpu. Now you're seeing quad core processor phones. I remember being little when my brother had his first cell phone back in the early 2000's, which a big bulky Nokia, and his friends were like "Dude, you got a cell phone!?"

I may not be old, but I myself am surprised how much technology evolved.

Lol you old too JK. Never had one of them my neighbor did. Cable who needed cable back then. Throw up a 35 foot antenna and you were good for 13 channels and a few radio stations lol. Then we got cable in the city which was cool.

We always lived in the middle of no where and the antenna got us maybe 3 - 4 channels. The first time we got cable was some weird antenna looking wireless thing. still didn't get many channels though. lol

Hotdog may be better on this one. But for my answer quiet a bit. Cash for a car,Honda rebel,a enderow,have no clue how to spell it. Give you a better Idea a pack of Marlboro reds cost a 1 when I started to smoke and you could get them out of a vending machine. Gas was .85 cents a gallon which was good considering most of the cars I drove had four barrels on them and made 400hp to the rear wheels. Some things had a nice price some didn't pretty much like today. Just then you actually made enough money to stay ahead and out of debt.
