I'm 38 and remember when just to be able to play both Cassette tapes and CDs (In the new CD player from Fultron that just came out) I had to build an overhead console in my Chevy S10 to put the pullout CD player up there because my truck was Din 1.5 and had a center console built for my amp switches, motor switches and cupholders.. . Used the CD player Aux input so I could run the Cassette deck through it because it had a better signal to noise rating.. lol. Oh and while I was at it, I had a 4" coaxial center channel speaker in the dash for the "full effect" I also remember when music was meant to sound good in car audio. Now the kids don't really care how it sounds as long as they have it on some digital device. I prefer reference sound (And SPL on demand)

One of my audio heroes was DOC Thunder which was the mastermind of the old TOW (Thunder on Wheels) comp circuit. Spent my youth building systems and learning from Todd Crowder at TC audio here in Arkansas and got to be part of the development of his "Beast" with the dual tunneled 16 15s..

Sported a Haro master bike and fell on my ass more times than I care to count trying to do something called "Freestyle".. Any body remember that?..

Like others here, had the entire set of Starwars toys, more transformers than I could ever play with and still wish I had them today because the new ones are crap. (Still play with them with my kids though.. FTW.)One of my favorite tv shows was Airwolf. Sat in the knight rider car at the local mall when it came to town and it was sporting a cassette deck to.

Always loved Bigfoot the monster truck.

Had a Commodore 64 (With tape deck) Commodore 128, Amiga and a TRS16 and TRS80.. (In the computer industry now, have more old crap that I care to admit.

And for those that posted the ram above. I still have Sipps in my stuff drawer at my office. I still have hard drives at my dads that have platters the size of dinner plates. (And held a whopping 5MB)Using MFM and RLL interfaces... (Wow I'm old.)

Hey what part of arky ya from. I met Mr Crowder in fayetville once I thought he was cool and showed allot of pride in his work. A nd was willing to to listen to people which was far and few back then. I work at stereo 1 in fay when it first opened till the dumb punks started to not care about their work. We started to lose authorize dealer and installer licenses and such. Did Hath show for that one too? He was at the fayetville mall and some got to get a ride in one of the cars. Very disappointed in it since the tv showed it being fast and supped up but in real life it was only stock lol.

I don't think you are ever too old to be into car audio but I think about a week after you get your license you should have outgrown bumping at stop lights. I see lots of kids doing this and misinterpreting the attention they are getting....they think everybody must be thinking how awesome they are, when in reality everybody is thinking how annoying that is.

Now its probably more true then when i was a teen. I had, on more than one occasion, someone tell me to turn it up even louder while sitting at a stop light when i first started driving and bumping.

Grew up around Malvern and spent most of my time cruising Hot Springs. Got into the minitruck scene and stuck some "Stillwater Designs" 15s in it and ran them full range because I was broke.. lol.. Now living around Cabot and just getting back into the scene. Life and work is stable and now I can play.. Got some tools that I need to put to use and want to get some builds going. I have been to a few shops and worked in the past. Started out at "Your Car stereo" in North Little Rock, then moved over to Arkansas Car stereo for a stint. I think that was around 94-96 maybe.. Then said the heck with it and got a real job.. lol Audio is a great job, as long as you can do it for yourself and not others. Like you said, some dealer owners want you to cut corners to get the cars out and make the next buck and not do it right. Let's just say that after hanging around with Todd and seeing what a quality build should be, both dealers and I had a difference of opinion..

Todd is a great guy and has been on the scene for a long time. I have never seen him do any work that he didn't take lots of pride in and his ideas can be insane. I remember when he first ran his shop in Fordyce out of his moms clothing store and really hit the comp circuit with his extended cab square body s10. That was a clean truck. I have never known him to be a speed freak or into high performance, but I know he has done some insane builds on a few supercars.

Another mini truck lover oh great lol. Steve reminds me of him as far as the love he has for the hobby. And the fact he treated people like a person and respectfully. Which is the one thing that got my attention about this forum. Then of course you have to through idiots in the mix. I didn't even knew he touched exotic cars actually.I went through there a time or two lol. No I use to cruse in 85-86 in a 76 maroon Malibu classic with a blown 502 running 65 mickey street legal on gold mags. In case that is the time you were around there. Then in the early to mid 90's I had a canary yeller 78 Chevy luv with a 400 small block in it. If you was around there then you might have seen them lol. That's cool he started out that way didn't know him that well just the few times I met him and the work I seen up around north ark. Hope your getting back into the hobby goes well sir.
