Does iPhone 4 clip?

Recommended Posts

I could be wrong but I thought Meade proved this in one of his videos. If your using the iPod 3.5 mm jack, vs the 30 pin connector (both lossless songs on device)

The 3.5 is some sort of amplification especially if you are using the EQ with the phone which at 100% volume will distort.

I'd go 30 pin if possible. I got off 3.5 and never looked back. Everything just sounds better IMO.

I could have false info, if I'm wrong plz correct me. But I wouldn't post if I wasn't 90+% sure.

You need to test where the distortion level for your head unit is, cant always be running max volume

That wasn't his question FYI. he is talking about the iPhone volume using his 3.5 jack at full volume.

I could never use the 3.5mm jack. Anything in the aux jack just sound like shit to me. Use USB if you can. If not just keep the iPod volume around 3/4 then just adjust at the h/u.

And the fact more than one person agrees does not make it a circle jerk, it makes it a bukkake scene and you're in the middle ;)

Chick took 3 shots of Jager, and then, pissed in my mouth..

Also 2x this. My personal experience is the same. But I would even go as far as..... If you can't get USB then get a new head unit that can. (Yes It's that worth it)

I do use USB most of the time, I have some music that mp4 on my iPhone so that's why I listen to it. I could use my charger instead of the aux cord if that's better, I don't use any eqs on my phone. Should I just turn the volume down a bit on the phone

If you must listen to the 3.5 jack on the phone I'd keep it below 80% volume. This way has no true way of telling if your actually giving a clipped signal unless you hook up a oscope or a dd1. I'd do it the way that I will never do again... And that's play everything 75% volume.

Max HU volume of say 62 x .75 = 46

Same with iPhone.

And while we're doing this the ghetto way, set gains like that too. Like I said I'd never do this again. The DD1 is amazing. I know that If I use my USB and 320kbps I'm giving a clean signal to my head unit, and I know that my head unit doesn't distort for 60/62 volume. And I know that my gains are set using the -5db track so on 99% of the songs I've played on my phone sound great and I often challenge myself and other people to listen for distortion.

Only 1 track on my phone is recorded too loud where I can't "set it and forget it on 60" is a club mix that I think was recorded at 0db or even boosted higher, and I knew the first few seconds I herd it in my car. Other then that I'd look into investing in those things mentioned above.
