WastedTalent
I DD-1's my Iphone 4 and old 3gs and got the same results with both. .76 volts output unclipped at max volume with a the 40 and 1k test tones. These results were receiced out of both a 30 pin conector and a 3.5mm rca cable. heres a pic i took of the 3gs with teh iphone 4. Audio's good, but I see a little screen "distortion"..... LOL That's cause the bass of the phone hit so damn hard it literally shattered the screen. Haven't you done that? Anywho, does volume truly matter when you use the dock? I mean with the aux, of course it does, but when I use the dock, it doesn't matter where the volume's at on the phone for how loud it gets through the system. I may sound like a complete noob as maybe I'm not using the right lingo but... eh. If you have the phone on full blast with the aux, the music will be louder through the head unit/system than if you have it low. But if you have it on full blast with the dock, music will be just as loud through the head unit/system as if the volume is low. That's just what I've experienced. Wicks
Doesn't the DD-1 require 1.2V (blue LEDs) in order to measure distortion? No the volume does not matter as the dock output is a fixed signal. as a matter of fact you have no volume controll when the 30 pin is used. Doesn't the DD-1 require 1.2V (blue LEDs) in order to measure distortion? That's a good question. /75 if I recall is the voltage needed to trip the signal light. If i can figure out how to distort a 0db 40 or 1k tone I can retest it. Unless someone wants to ask steve or tony. Rolex you sicken me. It doesn't specifically say that you need the blue LEDs lit for the unit to detect distortion though...
