Do you think i could run a 2000 watts on a 110 alternator? If i should get a new alternator can someone tell me of a good place to get one for my 2003 jeep grand cherokee limited? Guest Posted November 2, 2012 Report Posted November 2, 2012 you're going to install 200lb of audio equipment in your car, but you're asking if an alternator will bring down your mpg. big alts take power to spin. added weight makes the engine work harder to move you along. both will affect gas mileage. edit: typically if you're spending more than a grand on audio, you dont really care about your gas mileage.
