New guy from Boise, Idaho

Hey guys, noobie to the forums, but no stranger to the car world or woofers...

A little background, My name is brad, 18 years old. I've been working on cars my whole life along side my older brother and my dad who taught both of us everything we know to this day.

I really first started working/learning about cars i was probably 4 or 5 years old it really started with(for me anyways, my dad has built and competed since highschool) my dad's 1999 Ford F-250. My dad used to be a big competitor up here in Boise. He was very well known around here not only in the stereo comps but in the local car scene which i'll get into a bit more....anyways a little background from the f250 from what i can remember and what he's told me about over the years it had 4 15" Oldschool Soundstream subwoofer in a bed box, powered by a Soundstream 10.0 (which i currently am using today, still working perfectly) which is/was 1/4 ohm stable amp, and you bet your ass we wired it down to 1/4 with the 4 15's, mid's/high's were powered by the Soundstream Picasso( which i also still have and am currently using) longstory short the amp is rated at 25W @ 4 ohms and at a local SPL drag did 152.6 dB landing first place to him in that category of the comp which every comp that he competed in were all IASCA comps...that truck was f'n crazy specially being 5 years old at the time, though i didnt really understand what we were doing, my dad let me help where i could and i stood by and watched the whole building process.

1 Soundstream Continum <-------ULTRA RARE and we had/still have BOTH yes 2 of them lol sadly either not working

it had a few mid's dont remember much about those

around 2002-2004 the sub's got stolen :'( nothing else gladly though

thats about all i can remember for the rodeo, i believe it pulled a 148 dB ish

kinda fast forward now lol

sold the truck kept all the equipment from it

and to make this clear it was built as a DD and was an AUTOMATIC, which here in idaho was the first auto tranny boosted civic...actually at the time prolly one of the first in the northwest

dyno'd on 7lbs made 190 WHP 10lbs put down 220 ish WHP

This self built/tuned car ran 100% perfect zero issues for over 40k miles how ever we did blow up 1 tranny, and before the car sold the 2nd was on its way 2nd gear ground like mofo under boost....

pause for a little break ive been at this for 45 min's typing and remembering..............

but on 10lbs of boost it put down 263WHP on street tires and first time down the track my brother put down a 14.6 @96mph

then it got time to be serious and shut some people up and smash some records bumped up to 20-25lbs of boost

put down 417whp, sadly we had injector problems so we were never able to get a 100% tune on it and it had some problems running every now and then so it never made it to the track with slicks...but was projected to put down 11.4-11.8 @ 124-128 mph

reguardless it was one of very few single cam honda's in idaho let alone the northwest to break the 400whp barrier

fast forward alot through multiple more cars lol

then theres my first car at 16 years old

1997 civic 5spd sedan picked it up for $750 buck's non running

me and my dad ran comp test..... piss poor, started to tear it apart discovered the timing had jumped 3 teeth and bent all the exhaust valves and a couple intake, the cam journals scores beyond belief, needless to say the head was trashed un-usuable in its state, continued on tearing apart, everything looked mint, cylinder walls still had cross hatching at 146k everything else looked up to par, bought a reman'ed head replaces all the seals and everything on the motor dropped it back into the car, yes im skimming very quickly over the 3 weeks of work non engine involved, all after school to clean it up and getting it ready, after all said and done about 1300 total cost into this car 750 included for purchasing, i got my first car and i learned how to drive stick on...ill save whats already a long ass story and im sure if anyone is reading this you have probably left by now... lol and jump straight to my mods

at my tech school for the carshow/stereo comp on a termi lab meter i did 135.3 dB which i believe i could possible do 136-137dB now after installing the new/current deck so i could eliminate the standalone EQ and its display reducing the amount of singal interruption and distortion and re-tuning the amp's

because most of the music i listen it metal/rock the 15 isnt really producing the bass i want/need future plan is to go to 2 12" alpine type s woofers dual 2 ohm, wire it to 1/2 ohm hopefully be pushing from 1800-2200 rms watts

thats pretty much my story and where im at today, just kinda lurking through the forums, always down to learn new things, sorry i dont have pics of some the stuff ill get as many as i can in there of whatever we got on our network lol

Lol thanks! yeah, many people are extremely surprise at my skill set at such a young age, for have been working on cars for around 14 years and welding for 10 years and my general all around knowlege of many different things haha yeah its a surprise to many people, but im me so its not all that weird for me haha
