blindman4556 Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 im building a box for a single SA-12 for my 09 nissan altima. i came up with this: and the box is there anything i should change. like is the port area good. i might change the overall design a little to get the tuning a hair lower. just wanted to make sure its going to work without port noise. and i will be rounding the port edges.
wmrcs Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 Could use a little bit more port maybe, but it seems okay! E34 540iT/6
Neckbeard Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 looks good! what program is that? the one that shows the box Build log, Super slow!!: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/168096-slow-neckbeards-1970-opel-gt/
StreetMetalBen Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 How much power will you be running on that SA? Are you looking for SQ or SPL? you might get some Port noise with it only being 2" wide... and 1.8 plus sub displacment i think its a little on the small side
HunterJohnson Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 If I were you I'd make the box bigger. 2.2-2.4 NET and around 12-14sq of port preferably tuned lower like 28hz is where I like the SA-12's Scion tC SQ BuildiPad mini, lots of fabrication, daily drivenFord Explorer C Pillar Wall Build Just a cheap car to destroy with bass
Joe X Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 Your port extension should be 14" for an overall length of 30", no big deal though, you should specify power and type of music you listen to get more useful feedback.
blindman4556 Posted November 18, 2012 Author Report Posted November 18, 2012 yeah my bad . i listen to everything but mainly rap and rock. im going for SQ over SPL. right now im just useing a kicker zx750. but i am getting a new amp. i havnt decided on what one yet, but looking some where between 700-900 @ 2ohms so your saying i need to make the port wider, and box bigger? and tuned lower? sorry this is my first ported box ive done. ive built sealed, but usually just paid someone else do my ported boxes.

I know next to nothing about SQ, but I believe people tune low low for SQ set ups. If you could go a little wider on the port you'd likely be safe from port noise. E34 540iT/6
