constant power reading low???

my HU didn't turn on tonight,

I checked the "radio" fuse, fine

I took it out to check all the wires and everything seems fine,

so I took out the DDM and find out that my constant power (yellow wire) its only reading 0.8v.

why can this be happening???

I'm thinking about running a wire from the battery , fuse it and call it a day.

the wire could be pinched somewhere, causeing it to break except for a few strands, even if a fuse looks fine, it might not be, try changing it out and see what happens

all right, let me change the fuse,

ok changing the fuse didn't work.

actually the fuse its only getting the same 0.8v.

so I'm running a new power wire.

this is getting worst.

I ran the new power wire, directly from the main batt, fused and to the HU.

now thats working just fine, however when I turn my key to get the ACC, I noticed that some of my instrument lights aren't working, like the odometer and the small message screen (its a 2001 yukon)

now I'm getting a little bit worried.

it does start and everything seems to be working fine except the ODOMETER and the MESSAGE SCREEN, speedo lights and everything its just fine.

somehow when my HU stopped working due to the lack of voltage on the constant power wire, also the odo and messace c, stopped working.

I will continue tomorrow, I read on tahoe/yukon forum that I might be in need of a new cluster, but I'm not so sure, since it fail at the same time that my HU.

I think its more of a wiring issue.

I'm taking the cluster out tomorrow.

Have you done anything under the dash recently?

I had a similar issue with my s10 when in the middle of installing the deck, turns out it was the main wiring harness plug in (big square harness plug in with a bolt in the middle (i think a #8 or #10 bolt) My issue was no headlights, no dash lights or gauges.

Sounds like bad connections to me. Fought an issue like this in my GMC Jimmy (It's a 99) after installing my new head unit. I lost my gauge cluster and backlight in the A/C controls, snugging up all the plugs fixed me right up.
