REVOofRustler
When you add an external port in Torres, you need to change the port length to the length of the entire port. So add the length of the internal port to the external and plug that in. Then put the external port length into the external port length box. 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 club cab - Sold 2004 Audi S4 Avant - Fi and Crescendo - Stock Bose System - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147725-2002-dodge-dakota-end-of-the-road/?hl=%202002%20%20dakota 136.4 Sealed @ 29hz 137.0 Drivers window open @ 26hz
AMI CUSTOMS
What u said op won't work you are just closing the opening of the port down. You have to change the entire port not just the mouth. alaskanzx5
wouldnt making the port smaller in that matter also affect the box volume since the port walls would be thicker? this is what he was talking about the external piece is bolted on using t nuts. take the bolts out, remove the external portion of the port then but the bolts back in so you have no air holes. in the above design the box is tuned at about 40hz (dont remember exactly) then with the external piece added on it drops the tuning down to 35hz. it the next box im gonna build. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz. ear2ear
^^^No the net stays the same. Remember your net volume & port volume are 2 seperate things. If you reduce the port area by putting layers of wood inside the port, you are eating up port volume, not net. The port air volume plus it's wood is subtracted from the gross to get your net (along with bracing & displacements). If you add wood to the inside of the port you take away port airspace. If you add wood to the outside of the port you take away net airspace. <----That's not we're talking about. Yes, the port thickness matters in Torres when designing a new box...because it grows outwards. With an existing box and port, we are effectively making it grow inwards. That does not use any net volume, it takes away port volume.
