IKnowImLost224
I am trying to help a friend get a decent amp that will put out around 2200-2400 rms @ 1 ohm for around $200 and was looking into the DB Drive A4 2400. It says its class AB technology but I have no idea what that means and wanted to know what people think of it or if you have other suggestions or an amp for sale.. It's $170 brand new on eBay. BobbyG2
That amp is only fused for 90 amps, only 900-1200watts. If you want an amplifier that does 22-2400 look for something with 200+ amps in fuses. Here's the cheapest options I would feel comfortable recommending to a friend: BRZ2100.1: $300 http://www.wooferset...-amplifier.aspx Crescendo BC2000D: $380 http://store.soundso...-amplifier.html BRZ2400.1: $400 http://www.wooferset...-amplifier.aspx AQ 2200D: $430 http://www.audioque....ifier_p_31.html Or browse the FS section. *New vehicle and system coming soon.*

Wicks
Class AB is the classification of the amplifier architecture. Larger mono-block amps lately are generally Class D due to the increased efficiency they provide. If you feel like some "light" reading: http://en.wikipedia....ronic_amplifier As stated above, go by the fused rating. Many "cheaper" amps will boost their ratings to make you think they produce more power then they actually do. You want 2kW then divide by the general efficiency of 70% (if class D) to get a power requirement of ~2860W. 2860W/13.8V = ~207A So as stated, you want an amp with a 200A fuse and yes it is going to cost you more than $200. Back when I started in car audio, it was $1 per watt so these prices are CHEAP. As with almost everything, you get what you pay for.
