inno09 Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 so i am new to the site but been watching SMD for the 8yrs or so and i am finally gettin my project done but my alt is being the royal pain since my car (2007 ford fusion 2.3L) is super hard to find stuff for it and i finally found an alt through DCPOWERINC and it took them a month to build it and when they sent it. I installed it and 1 crank it siezed up on me and now i cant get them on the phone or even to take this pos back so i can get my money back so i can get someone else to build it anyone know of someone else. i called mechman and they dont have one for me. this is just fustrating since i am also attending MT2 and my project is pretty much on hold due to this alt....ty for your help

Ninja_v1.0 Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 Here is your issue. If you did not use the spacers that were included with the alt then it will freeze up. TRUST ME ON THIS. You can eveN use 2 bolts as long as you are able to get it about .5 of an inch. If you dont use the spacers what happens is you have extra pull on the alt and it will seize up almost instantly. Uninstall the alt then beat it with a hammer until it unsiezes up. use the spaces on the one backet side that is shorter and then you will be good to go. I can tell you that as soon as you get that alt in there and running you will be glad you bought it. My 270xp has been through hell and back and is still kicking to this day by the way i went through 3 alts. NOT because they were faulty but because i did NOT use spacers. btw I have the same model car as you do When your at the top everyone is coming for you, friends, family, haters and even those who don't know you.. my advice..
