Hey guys, I've been are car audio fan for awhile, lately my love for it has been increasing more and more. So, SMD forum, here I come! Haha. My car is a 1988 Cutlass Supreme Classic Brougham.

I have a sort of temporary system in there now. That currently consists of:

Alpine CDA-7893 HU

Optima Redtop

4 Ga. Monster Cable all the way back

(2) 3.5" Clarion SRG922C

(2) 6x9" Clarion SRG6932R

And old school Jensen 100x4 4 Channel Amp

Also and old school Pyle Driver II 12" subwoofer

(1.13 Cu Ft. box, aero port, around 34 Hz)

Kenwood KAC-821 (bridged mode) btw, the amp that is in the pic isn't the Kenwood

Virtual Reality Sound Labs 1.0 Farad Cap

3 Grounds (engine, frame, and body)

The system sounds alright for the $100 I spent on the Clarion's and other odds and ends (my dad had the amps and subs laying around.) But now I'm ready to change some stuff up. The Clarion's and head unit are definitely staying for now. And to complete my front stage I am going to hook bass blockers up to the 3.5"s and put them on the HU's power. Then I'm going to use the other channel on the 4 channel for Clarion SRQ1622S's that I'm gonna put in the kick panels. I'm going to build another box, this time with a slot port, however, it's going to be around the same size, maybe .1 or .2 Cu Ft. bigger. I might bring the top and bottom of the box out 2 or 3 more inches, and the sides out and inch. My problem is that I can't seem to find a decently priced, high power sub (that's gonna give me the bang that I want) and also one that is gonna work in such a small space. And also an amp to match that is good quality, and not too expensive. I look into 3 Sundown SA-8's, but I dont think im gonna have enough space on that trunk ledge. I've also looked at some RE Audio 12", which I am thinking about more and more I listen to a lot of Rap (specifically Big K.R.I.T.) some, chopped and screwed stuff, E-40 and once in a while some rock. So I need a sub that's gonna be good for LOW LOWS and nice punchy bass too. I also don't want to blow through cash, I'm only 16, working 2 jobs, and trying to keep gas in this car is a chore in itself. I will upload more pics tommorow of the space I have (I have more space, but would like the box in a certain area). Any tips/suggestions would be appreciated!!

Welcome to the forum man, a lot of us will help with what you need.

My suggestion is to get 2 12 Skar audio subs. Those are very nice on the lows. It depends on the box as well but you can throw a hifonics brz1700.1 to those. That would be a perfect set up. You can do 10s if you want. Not sure what kind of space you got. Other ppl will chime in to help

Thanks man. I would try 2 12"s but the problem is the box can only be so wide becuase of the magnets of the 6x9"s hanging off the package shelf. Unless there is a different box setup could do. Like deep inbetween the 6x9"s and they less deep in front of the 6x9"s? I dunno, still a lot more thinking to do haha.

What do you mean "oblong" speakers? I only used the cap and battery because I had them, and don't have the budget to buy new stuff if this stuff works find.

You would have to build a box, your depth would have to be a little bigger since your width isn't that much room. You can do 2 10s as well. You might have better room for that..

Okay, so here are more pictures of what I'm working with, and the dimentions of the space i have.

Max width, 20 inches

Max height, 13 inches

Max bottom depth, 16 inches

Max top depth, 13 inches

Here you can see the 6x9 magnets, I can't go any wider becuase of those.

Here is the bottom of the box, that I am thinking to bring out to 16 inches. I guess i could make a support to hold up the overhang.

Here is the width of the box now, could i get two 10"s in there side by side...and have room for a port?

Do 2 10s

with 10s you can make it the box shorter to fit under your 6x9s and have extra width

down rpping vanderbilt. 30 miles from victoria. i own the 3rd loudest setup here out of 3. but i did put together all 3 setups

^^ Cant wait to swalllow Ghost's babies
