ilikebassandstuff
Never done a set up with super tweets, but i"m hoping this is not how there are supposed to sound! They sound terrible and crackle at low volumes. Seem to cut in and out and there is no output below 1/4 volume, my mids will play but the tweets are dead silent until about volume 6 or 7, full tilt is about 25. They sound fine at half volume and up. Currently running 4 ft-1's on a rockford t600-4. Using the passive crossovers for them from crescendo which are 5kh at 12db I believe. I tired running them active on my c1100.4 crossed at 5kz and hooked them directly at the amp and not on the wire ran through the truck. Sounded the same so I put them back. Tried running some new rca's, tried running an ipod straight to the amp. Finally I said fuck it and bought some selenium st304's to see if they sounded any better. Had time to test them out today and same thing. I have seen nothing but great reviews of the sq of these tweeters, I have to be doing something wrong. Here is a little video, obviously its hard to tell from my camera but you can still make it out well enough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTjJ6bUQFPQ Dodge Ram Mega cab 4 18in Xcon's in a 4th order 158.2 at 39hz 156.0 at 27hz

BobbyG2
Sounds like the problem is with something other than the tweets. Maybe the amp, or RCAs , or headunit. Try hooking up your ipod directly up to the amp (using one of those stereo 3.5mm plugs to rca adapters) and see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't, it's your amp. Try a different amp hooked up to the same rcas to your headunit. If the problem persists, change the RCAs and try again. If the problem persists, it's your headunit. If the different RCAs hooked up to your headunit fix it, than it's the RCAs. *New vehicle and system coming soon.*
noe619
two different sets to tweets, two different amps, new rca's, two different source of input (HU and ipod), hooked up with and without inline crossovers from crescendo, you know those have in and out right? kingsuv
The crackling isn't right. You need to dig into why they are doing that. Try pulling them from the system and check them on another source Designing, building, and shipping boxes. Yahoo IM - kingsuv00If the listening level is too loud, please inform the driver, so he can promptly pull over, and let you out. not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.

Thanks bobby, But ive tried everything you mentioned with no luck so far. two different sets to tweets, two different amps, new rca's, two different source of input (HU and ipod), hooked up with and without inline crossovers from crescendo, you know those have in and out right? I have them wired with the "in" side towards the amp and the "out" side to the tweeter. I think that's correct... tacomabanga1986
try to hook it up the other way, maby they got reversed in making, it wont hurt the xovers, just do it at a low volume have u messed around with your eq settings to see if that helps? do u have the hpf on the amp turned on? dunno how u got it hooked up, also i seen in vid your running 2 tweets per xover, try 1 tweet n see what happins, and they make something called a 50ohm resistor, there like $2 at radioshack that they put on these for pa setups, try that at a lower volume n see, cause those xovers are prolly just for smaller tweets my mtx 2way truck box speakers have those resistors on the tweets so i know they wont hurt them, just a idea when i was lil i always ran tweets like this without a xover and they sounded fine but not with as much power as a car amp puts out but u can hook them up to your home stereo to see how they sound without a xover on lower volume to make sure there functional and to rule the tweets out, try the 50kohm resistor n see if that helps it really sounds like ur xovers here's a link to my system 99 toyota tacoma , 2 mtx 8000 1504's in a sealed downfire , 1000w memphis amp here's a link to my other system my 90 geo prizm test car heres a thread i got of new songs u can dl that are legal = Some Good Bangage/you Can Dl These Free And Legit

The hpf on the amp is on and is as high as it goes which is 500hz. Ive tried running it AP too which makes no audible difference. I think I will hook them up to my home theater just to see how they do. Ya there 8's. They are running on a c1100.4, 3 bridged per side. Absolutely love the mids just can figure out the highs lol Dodge Ram Mega cab 4 18in Xcon's in a 4th order 158.2 at 39hz 156.0 at 27hz
ds1919
to me sounds like a voice coil issue. They look inexpensive, can you get some more to test out? what about testing some other tweets on the same setup? yeah at first I thought, what crappy tweeters they could never sound good even if they're working right. But when you turned it up, well, lets just say that I'm gonna be building a spl setup in one of my dubs now. I could "feel" that system hit, not the bass, but the intensity of them tweeters matched with the 8s. Intense!! yeah if you have trouble with all other tweeters, then start backtracking to the HU. change the wiring after the xovers, change/remove the xovers, etc etc. Its not really a mystery here, something is faulty, just need to isolate the area thats all. Would be good to know the outcome too
