rambo.93 Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 aight guys, i have a problem...i think i tuned my last box too high. I am not sure if it was that i designed it wrong or that the new version of Torres screwed me over, but my subs arent hitting low notes very loudly. I played a frequency test in my car and like 35-50 were really loud but then under 35 hz they got super quiet. im not completely sure if its my box or amp tho. subs and amp were bought used but all worked good. the only thing im wondering about the amp is that nothing changes when i adjust the sub sonic and low pass knobs. but that could just be cuz i didnt try it with the frequency test, just various songs. there are the specs that i built my box to. btw, the subs are two 10 inch rockford fosgate P3s. the middle model thats 400 rms. and the amp is a Kole Audio QX1-3000d wired at 4 ohms so its only puttin out 1100 watts.
BEEMDUB Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 give them more wattage and get a box thats tuned to about 33-34hz... The box makes all the difference so experiment
kirill007 Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 Show us a picture of the amp settings, somethings wrong with those. (by the way, that amp won't put out 1000W at 4 ohms, maybe at 1 ohm..) Edit: Beemdub, you think tuning 2 hertz lower will change anything? Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
Sheena Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 box placement. if you have it like you have it in your trunk then theres a good chance you're running into all sorts of cancellation problems. turn the box around, push it all the way back towards the trunk, fold the seats down and you will have lows. 09 Civic EX KDC-X395 (2) SKAR Audio VVX-12 Skar Audio SK-1500.1 4 cu ft @32 (new box and more port soon) Firing Forward not sealed off Stock 80 Amp Alt Big 3 In 1/0 Knu 2 Runs To The Back 1 Pos 1 Neg In 1/0 Knu DD-1'd 13.8v drop
rambo.93 Posted December 12, 2012 Author Report Posted December 12, 2012 idk what actual wattage is with the amp, but its rated at 1100 watts at 4 ohms and the subs are only 400 each so im completely fine if its not putting out the full 1100. and more wattage isnt going to improve lows, just make things louder... and yea, i know the box makes a huge difference. which is why im wondering if torres gave me false information or not or if i just designed it terribly..? and ill get pictures of my set up in a second.
rambo.93 Posted December 12, 2012 Author Report Posted December 12, 2012 looking into the trunk from back...
rambo.93 Posted December 12, 2012 Author Report Posted December 12, 2012 amp settings: Level at about 50%, sub sonic all the way down to avoid cutting out any low notes, low pass set at about 130, and bass boost is barely turned up at all.
rambo.93 Posted December 12, 2012 Author Report Posted December 12, 2012 from inside the car with both seats down.
darkjds Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 u tried turning it around? the notes might be cancelling out Current Setup: , 2 Fi sp4 18s in a big ass flat wall tuned to 23hz, Pioneer 80prs, 2 Digital Designs m3bs strapped @ 2 ohms, Banda ICE2000, Crescendo 800.4, 4 PRV 10MR1000s,4 Mclaren MLT300 Super Tweeters Kinetik 2000 XS Power 2700 & XS Power 3100s.
rambo.93 Posted December 12, 2012 Author Report Posted December 12, 2012 face it towards the trunk? no, i havent tried that. people told me to face it inwards so that it would be louder...lol my last set up was facing backwards and it hit a lot wider range of notes but it was also sealed... maybe i should just build a sealed box for these too?
