TerryBallou-Crawford
I just picked up an Orion HCCA Competition 12d subwoofer, as well as a HCCA 250G4 cheater amp. This is old school and I couldn't help myself. I put the 12d in a little sealed box when I bought just to check that it worked, and it does. However, it makes a kind of flapping noise on lower frequencies (only), and only when the volume is up (~2/3). At the same time, output drops off substantially but it's still pumping (excurting, if that could someday be a word). Whenever it's played quietly or on higher notes, it sounds absolutely normal. I was wondering if this wasn't just the box. I don't want to build a custom enclosure unless I know for sure the sub is fine. I'm barely giving the thing juice and it's choked for space and I can tell it still wants to get loud. Anyone have ideas or opinions about this? TerryBallou-Crawford
play it free air (out of box), check for noises.....if it's fine then it's the box Unfortunately it's even more apparent. Everything I can see looks fine, nothing unglued. I don't have much in it and I figure most of the purchase was the amp (works terrific). Any home remedies for kicks and giggles or is it just wall art? 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 Hertz HSK 165.3 JL Audio Slash 300/4 Fi BL15 Fully Loaded D2 Memphis 16-MCD1000
