Mobileaudio25 Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 I installed a basic system into my 06 impala and used a line converter because I wanted to keep my stock CD player. Lined my remote wire into the constant (red/white) from the CD player as well as the left and right speakers for the converter. I didn't ground out the unit because it said not to if I had sound from the speakers so I didn't. I ran my amp off of a constant flip switch to keep the car from dying. I have a good clean metal ground as well... Any suggestions?
Mobileaudio25 Posted January 10, 2013 Author Report Posted January 10, 2013 It's just an on/off switch that's connected to the remote wire.... Not an aux switch or anything just on/off. And the remote wire is ran to the constant 12v wire that connects to the back of the CD player.... There is no remote on the car
Pioneerchuck Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 You might have a bad multi switch. You'll need to test it of course. You'll need to find the ohm loads that are to be shot through the switch when its in different positions and then use the factory loads and bounce them against the readings you get.

Don't really see how I could have went wrong? I've done about 20 systems or so.... Never. Had anything this weird. Never even dropped the dash, just pulled the stock hu
RCP Audio Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 A wire somewhere is messed up. You can deny it all you want, but for something like this to happen there must be a fault. Are you running hids? How do you know you 'tapped into' the right cables? Colour code? Or did you check the voltage/path of all of them first? What happens if you unplug the wire harness from the back of the hu? Tried unplugging all your amps (not just at the amp end) Just some things to try PSN: Rcp_soundz Good rule of thump is go by what fuse size is being used in these amps. The higher the more amperage it pulls, this is what I look at. White Lightning Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 Do you have the sterring sector setup to where the turn signal selector is also the low/high beam selector like on my Chevy truck ??? May just be something totally different from your system that maybe just started happening around the time of your install ... Stranger things happen with Chevys ... Mobileaudio25 Posted January 10, 2013 Author Report Posted January 10, 2013 Trust me, I'm no fan of any Chevrolet, let alone the impalas. I think they are junk. But yes. I checked the ground and constant 12 volt with a DMM. I just used the color wired diagram for the speaker wires when unused the line converter, but the line converter worlka correct there as well so I doubt those wires are to blame. I'm going to try unhooking something's and running some more tests. I feel bad because the car is not mine...
