The red/white wire that you connected you remote line wire to is the 12v power feed for your stock cd player. To my knowledge, the remote wire for aftermarket amplifiers requires less than that, probably more around the 3-5v range I'm guessing. If your pushing more voltage to the amp, it could be making an excessive draw on the factory wiring, and in turn the amplifier might just be grounding it out. Like I said a long shot, but hopefully this might help! I would disconnect the remote wire and see what happens. And I had an 02 Impala, electrical nightmare, goodluck! Pioneerchuck Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 If you return everything to stock condition and everything is right and the problem still exists, then shoot the multi switch (by shoot I mean test) and see if that's the problem. Also if you don't know what the multi switch is, it's the turn signal/high beam assemble on the steering column. you can get a new one for usually around $50-80. Good luck.
n1ghtsn1p3r Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 This might not be applicable to your vehicle, but something similar happened on my Bronco. I would hit the brakes or flip the turn signal switch to that side and all of my exterior lights (except for the headlights) would come on. Turned out one of the bright filament legs somehow got bent and was touching one of the dim filament legs. Mobileaudio25 Posted January 10, 2013 Author Report Posted January 10, 2013 I'm going to try and unhook all of the power supply's and let you know if that cures the problem... If so, not sure how else I could wore this thing up with a stock CD player since there isn't a remote wire....
