95 south
I have a really new problem. I have 4 FI BL 12 inch subs in a shared enclosure. All 4 subs are dual 1 ohm subs with 4 inch voice coils. I just had 2 of them reconed and FI doesnt sell the 4 inch coil for the BL subs anymore so they sent me a SP4 recone with 4 inch coil instead. The re-coned subs now have a ton more excursion due to the longer coil of the SP4 than the other 2 subs and i am wondering if this will harm my subs? Should i re-cone the other 2 with the SP4 coils and call it a day? Please advise? No System......GFY

bkolfo4
How did Fi send you SP4 recones when they don't make a 12" SP4? Assuming they are similar to a SP4 recone, did you tell Fi you had 4 subs total? I assume you would have (or at least you should have), and they would have told you not to run them together if it was not ok. I bet they will work together without any issues. Current system: 1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s Previous systems: 2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz. 1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz. SnowDrifter
They probably put 4" coils on a 12" cone. I would re cone all the subs so they are the same ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
AK bass
They probably put 4" coils on a 12" cone. I would re cone all the subs so they are the same 100% agreed. no mixing subs even if they are the magnet a different recone makes a different sub. recone the other two to be safe. bkolfo4
I guarantee you it will not hurt a thing to run them together with the originals, unless you are using an extreme amount of power on them. 95 south
I am running 2 Rockford Fosgate 2500-bdcp amps on all 4 subs so they each see around 1400-1500 watts. No System......GFY
