do you add a smooth angle in your L port to help w. port noise?

I thought proper port area was they key to eliminating port noise.

It is the key, but 99% of boxes built for cars do not have the optimal amount of port area. The port would be way too long for the small enclosure sizes!

My port is a pretty decent size isn't it? 16.0 inches per cube

Port area is not related to box size. It is related to swept volume by the driver cone and tuning frequency.

And yes, you have enough area.

Im tring to make sure that port noise is elminated with my enclosure? do you guys make the back corner of your L port smooth by adding in wood or do you guys just leave the harsh angle? heres my sub box specs, what do you guys think?

All measurements are in inches with .75 in MDF

15.5 H x 41 W x 21 D ...... port (inside dimensions) Port Height 14 x 5.25 Wide with a port length of 24 inches.

Box will be tuned at 37.34 Hz with a 4.57 Net Volume and 16 sq inches or port per cube. The port ratio is 1:2.67

My only question is how far back should i take my port before i break off at the 90 degree angle? how far should your port stop from the back wall?

Im going to be using MDF screws and Titebond II for the build.

Im running 2 XS power batts, all 0 ga wiring, 2 hifonics brz.1200.1D's (one on each sub) with a 180 amp alt.

My box is going to be sealed firing forward in a trunk install.

So I ran some numbers on your enclosure description, port center line length = 24" here is what I got:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 35 Hz

Vb = 4.797 ft^3

External Height = 15.5 in

External Width = 41 in

External Depth = 21 in

Port Width = 5 1/4 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.

* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

Front & Back = 41 x 15 1/2

Left & Right Sides = 19 1/2 x 14

Top & Bottom = 41 x 19 1/2

L Port Internal Assembly Parts:

Front to Back = 14 1/4 x 14

Extension = 3 x 14

Here is one way to optimize the port turn:

Recommeded mods:

1) double baffle / bracing.

2) rounded ends for the slot port.
