1 ohm lol I have a dual 1 though. I mean its not a big deal having dual 1 right now cause I have a rockford 1000bdcp but in the future when I get a more powerful amp I wanna go 1 ohm

so what are you hooked up at now? .5? You want to recone it with dual 2 ohm coils to wire it to a 1 ohm nominal load.

universal means that the motor will work if you change the impedance. for instance say your sub is a dual 1 now and you want to change it to a dual 2. You'd be able to do this with your new recone if the motor is universal. Universal option does not cost any money at checkout on Fi's site, so just hope that the original owner selected it. But try and contact him to make sure. You can purchase a basket from Fi as well with the recone. They use the same 12 spoke baskets on all their subs except the sp4

I can put any kind of coil in a motor if I wanted to.. I could do a single 4 ohm, dual 2 ohm, or whatever as long as the coil is the same diameter and fits the coil gap in the woofer. What I think he was referring to his "universal" statement is that each sub motor has a bolt pattern that attaches the magnet to the basket. Thus you have to have a basket that fits your bolt pattern, or you have to have someone machine the bolt pattern into the basket so that it will fit.

You can put whatever you want for coils in that woofer recone.

Dual 2 ohm means 4 ohms (series) or 1 ohm (parallel)

Dual 1 ohm means 2 ohms (Series) or 1 ohm (parallel)

The bolt patterns are only different on the UFOS I believe. Might as well order the basket from Fi with the recone. As far as woofer wiring ^ this is correct.

Guys, the universal option with Fi means that the gap is large enough for a dual 1 or dual 2 coil. it has nothing to do with the bolt pattern on the motor for the basket.

Each motor is machined per order and if the sub was ordered as a dual 1 and the universal option was not chosen, then a dual 2 coil will not work because the gap is not big enough to work with the thicker dual 2 coil.
