OrionStang
So, i've been told by every alternator company out there that a dual alt setup is impossible for my car, and I can't do a single bigger than a 270 (case size). I was thinking about this and may have a solution. The secondary alt would mount inline right in front of the primary alt via a simple bracket. A connecting shaft would attach to the main alts pulley, go through the back of the case of the secondary alt, and somehow attach internally to spin the alt. Im know engineer and I don't know exactly HOW to do all this, but it seems possible. I do forsee added belt slip, but maybe an idler pulley to increase belt wrap could help that. Don't laugh at my crude sketch LOL. Hopefully the alt guys/companies will see this and give their opinions. And if DC Power wants to use my car as guinea pig, i'm all for it. (They are local to me). mttornquist
Does it matter the direction the alt turns? Because the secondary alt will be turning backwards of a normal one My Build Log: http://www.stevemead...lmost-complete/
OrionStang
tell me how its spinning backwards. They are facing the same direction. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
OrionStang
Here's a visual of where I would like the connecting shaft to go through. Remove the back cover of the alt. Remove this small plastic piece. Now the center shaft of the secondary alt is shown. So, by drilling holes into the rear cover and small cover(marked in silver), a connecting rod can be attached to the front of the primary alt and the rear of the secondary alt. OrionStang
On the car itself, the only clearance issue seems to be the upper radiator hose. A custom fit hose would need to be used. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread

iwannabeloud
yes it does and they can always mount the spindle out the back or just turn the internals around looks badass. it might work with my 4.6L in my car this has 2 alts with one backwards I don't put images in my signature to let people know I mean business. OrionStang
I think you can have a larger single alt for your car. I cant go bigger because of the intake manifold and throttle body configuration. You don't have that shit in the way. As far as this setup, who knows. Nobody has tried to fab it up yet LOL. EDIT; this is @ ghostrider. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
Omega5002
Sounds like you would need to know a metal fabricator to pull this off if the alt companies think won't work. Only person I know that could probably do something this crazy, even though I know you hate the living shit outta him, is Iraggi. Seen him make a bracket to fit 5 alternators in an Expedition, though idk how the alts are now, but hey you could still ask for a bracket. 2003 Kia Sorento Team Subsonic LowsTeam Bassin' on a Budget2016 Rebuild Under Construction Best score: 150.2 at 40hz (3k, 2 Custom HDC3 15's) Usaci style(door open, in the kick)
