i would like to keep it to 2500 or less makes things much less complicated

Not for $200 your not.

The sundown SA line is about the best performance subs in that price range.

As for looking at subs....

Look for:

1. Coil size, coil material, and layers of the coil

2. Cone materials, from carbon fiber, paper composite, plastic, aluminum, etc.

3. Build country

There is more but it is hard to explain, but performance is everything. People on this forum only use proven equipment, that is why you will get the same suggestion over and over

great, except you didn't tell him the pros and cons in coils, cone, and country.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

the audiopipe subs I had would fit into that pricerange nicely and it would also fit into that wattage range but as I've learned you get what you pay for.. you want something good you gotta pay a little more... that being said though from what I've been told the HDC3 series from soundqubed isn't much more than $200 per sub and while the site rates them at 1000w a piece rms they seem to be able to handle over 2000 a piece easily... just my 2 cents... granted I have gotten stuck on really trying to go hard with soundqubed lately lol if you aren't trying to do a huge upgrade to your electrical though then my audiopipes are at least rated at 1000w rms each and they did just fine on an upgraded battery and the rest of the electrical stock

Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol

It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out.

the bigger the coil, the more power handling and better heat dissipation.

more layers iirc means higher power handling, but im not 100% sure.

copper is better musically but handles less power than aluminum, but aluminum is meant more for getting straight loud.

cone materials, ehh. paper/kevlar/diamond. to me, any material is fine. paper starts to fuck up though once you get into some serious pressure levels. like 160's i think.....although again im not 100% sure on that.

korea is the "main" country where audio comes from, mainly amplifiers. can be good or can be bad. usually good since there are a shit ton of amplifier companies that use the same build house with the same materials. europe is good, italy, germany, etc. china, thats where a LOT of subwoofers/subwoofer parts come from. like, probably close to all of them. you probably get the point.

some info may be wrong, but i'd be glad if i were to be corrected on some things.

Well, to be short, china gets a bad wrap for producing cheap shitty products, but there is good Chinese and bad Chinese, depends on the build house and how much QC they can really control. Korea is where all the big name amplifiers on the forums generally come from, again there are bad and good korean, coming back to quality control again. More layers on a coil isnt always good but generally favorable because the more material the more heat is can absorb aka thermal handling, also a thinner coil might not be able to handle as much but might be able to dissipate the heat faster with a thinner coil but larger surface area. 4 in 4 layer vs 3in 8 layer. Also coil weight vs. motor force also plays a part. Bigger motors aren't always better, it gets to a point where massive coils and overly massive magnets just become plain ineffcient. There is a shit load more but my thumbs are bothering me on this tiny iPhone.

An paper cones let go after about 20-30k per woofer generally. I think the a team tested it and did it with like 27 or 32krms. Something like that.
