I'm buying in california, so I'm not sure about how strict they are about them, but it seems like it's not a big deal compared to pistols and rifles. Most people say Mossberg 500 or Remington 870, but I figured I would ask people who have lots of knowledge as I don't know anyone who actually has one that I asked, and the only gun I have is my dads .22 from his highschool years that he won national rifle champion 3 times with, so he never lets me touch it anyway... I went to Big 5 since thats the only place close to me that sells guns, no basspro shops within many miles unfortunately. I stood at the counter for 23 minutes waiting, and the clerk was talking to some old white block captain who was ranting about how everything is a conspiracy and how every person he has ever seen is "casing his joint" as I believe he put it, and that he leaves a 12 gauge strung up to his door?!? doubt it but whatever, I left because theres another big 5 with more stock and much better service close by, and most the ones they had were Mossberg, Remingtons, and Stevens. Which would probably suit me best? Im looking for one that; -Is mainly used as home protection and is reliable and durable -But can also be used to go shooting at the range or in the mountains at outdoor ranges for skeet-shooting / ect. -Something that can be upgraded with attachments and stuff so probably a tactical shotgun. Sorry I can't give specific models, I only had a minute or two on my way to work to stop, figured I would get some info first. There something about the pump of the shotgun that feels cool, I don't need anything that serious lol, I don't plan on a small militia to break in at once ahahah (but at least you're prepared for one right? and more?)
