ImaNoob Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 Hey Everyone ! So i Finally broke down and bought a FI BL 12, Fully Loaded. I can finally get rid of my Duct taped Earthquake sub. I really need some help building a box though. I tried before but had no idea what i was doing and it sounded like trash. The box i have now hits super low but does nothing for me outside of super low notes its tuned to 28hrtz ( Ithink ) from what i read i can cut my port down a few inches to raise tunning a little bit, but the quality of the box just isnt there, Pvc port , carpet falling off etc. I was going to have a local place build me one and they said 5hrs of labor plus meterial..LoL for a single 12 Box, Im A Noob Not a idot<---Depends who you ask, Anyway So if someone can please help me with a box, that would be awsome. I have a rockford 1500bdcp. The box will be going in a extended cab chevy 1500 No back seats, so i have room for what ever. I have always had sub/port to the back wall and i guess i really like the way it hits that way . I have had other subs facing diffrent ways and didnt sound as good to my ear. I have 2 layers of dynamat through the whole truck + 1 layer of Dynamat foam on the floor. Max dimentions are54 long 16 tall and 19 deep( if i keep subs facing back) I also plan on getting another 12 as i can afford to and upgrade electrical etc. Also i can really only play my system durring the summer, when my windows are up it barley hits, when there down it bangs and get all kinds of crazy flex. <-- is this because the tunning on the box is so low or all the dynamat ? If i forgot anything sorry, Hence the username.. Thanks ! 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Xs3400 1500BDCP FI BL 12 3sq @ 32hz Rockford t675 T400.2 Stinger Deadner Build Log Here
boom50cal Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 Sub forward, ports into passenger B-pillar, kinda like my box here... That's my opinion though. Double baffle and whatnot on yours. On 1/4/2013 at 9:31 PM, HatersGonnaHate said: Wow. 184 posts and I think you're a fucking asshole.

bassfreake Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 13 tall 28 wide 19 deep 1 6" pvc port 25" long 2 baffles 2.21 cuft 34Hz I wouldn't suggest having the sub pressed up against the back wall... that's probably why your last sub was duct taped. Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out. LoL, No i got the sub like that( with the hole ) I added the duct tape, the box is about 6 inches or more from the back wall. My current box is 22 tall , 12.5 wide, and 19.25 deep, i laid it on its side in the back 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Xs3400 1500BDCP FI BL 12 3sq @ 32hz Rockford t675 T400.2 Stinger Deadner Build Log Here
bassfreake Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 oh ok lol well it seems the commonly accepted optimal frequency is 34Hz so that's what I was shooting for... the dimensions I gave you will put the box right in the upper range of the suggested box size for that sub too so it should sound pretty good I would think so long as you wire it right and got enough juice to push it... I highly doubt that you will have any problems hearing it with 1500w right behind your head in a well built ported box no matter whether you got your windows up or down... btw 5 hours labor for this box sounds pretty reasonable... my first box for a pair of 15s was a basic simple sealed box with no carpet or nothing and not including dry time for the glue I probably spent easily at least that long on it between measuring cutting lining up and gluing also if you're only using the one sub and you don't plan on getting a second one then I would go with 2 ohm so you can make sure you can wire it to get 1ohm on your amp otherwise you won't have the full 1500w running to it Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out. ImaNoob Posted February 10, 2013 Author Report Posted February 10, 2013 Yeah, thanks for the advice. I did order the 2ohm sub and plan on adding another down the road. My amp birth sheet is 1742@ 2ohms and 1894@1 ohm , although not sure if ill see that with 12 volts . I might just try to build that box this week, I have a few sheets of MDF laying around. Yeah I didn't think it took that long to build a box. And I don't want to pay 350+ material for a single 12 box. I would rather learn how to do this myself, even if I screw a few up to get one right.. CleanSierra Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 So you want to fire the sub in which direction? And you must want a rectangular box right? You wanting to stay with an aero port, or would you want to try an L-port? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
