96 DemoCCord. 150@32hz in a trunk + 3way SQ front stage

Recommended Posts

So my ZVX's blew. One motor shifted completely as I went over a hill and locked up the coil.

Local pick up a buddy had a pair of XFL 12's for a great price that are mint but broken in, so I picked them up. Also put my car on the meter. I'm pretty happy with it.

Here is what happened....

For those curious. The american bass XFL's got me louder then my ZVX's.

Also metered my car for the first time yesterday. It was hot as fuck here. 92+ in central Texas.

Highlights are...

- on the dash driver window down.

143.6 on Airforces, above a 143 the whole run 30 sec - voltage dropped to 12.6

144.3 on the dash @ 43hz - Voltage dropped down to about 12.2

- in the kick, driver door open

144.2 on Airforces, down to 143.9 after 30 sec. - voltage dropped to 12.4 (due maybe a more worn out battery after 20 minutes of testing LOL)

145.7 in the kick @ 43hz - voltage dropped to 12.0. That was one of my last tests.

I am debating if I want to modify the box slightly to get that score higher before heatwave. I don't plan on being super competitive, I'm just happy to go to my first competition.

But those XFL's are half the size of my ZVX's and are louder and take the power WAY better. They want more! Way more. A skar 2500 at .5ohms can't satisfy two of them. Time for more power.

it's amazing what a good sub can do huh? oh and yeah, those subs will need more power for sure. A 3500 @ .5 should be good for them, wouldn't really try to put more to them daily. Congrats on the scores man!

  • 2 weeks later...
  • 1 month later...

So i got a 144.7 at heatwave. I'm aiming for a 146+ with this next batch of updates.

IMG_2708_zpsd9743335.jpg

got brand new XFL 12's... They sure are sexy!!

IMG_2714_zps28365880.jpg

I am getting a new box at my house shortly. Going to have those pics up asap. should look something like this box... 4 cubes, double center kerf'd port tuned to 32 hz. BHE FTW

IMG_2713_zps2bcbd540.png

this box will directly replace my current one since this current one sucks ass. And im gonna re seal it off and re carpet.

Got a new job out here. So paychecks mean updates. New bass amp coming, and a few other things.

Lookin at flatline FL2? Anything 3500+ that will do good on my .5ohm nominal set up. budget is around $700-900

last update.... CHECK MY VOLTAGE!!! 13.6+ full tilt!

Cant till im out of college. Safety reasons. My build log is small. If you go back to page 7 you will see why im glad its all hidden. :D

Dont tempt me. A guy has 4 more XFL d2 ohm 12's for sale $100 each. a wall in my car would be pretty sick.
