Wiring at .5 Ohms?

Im sorry, but i never fully understood what that actually means, i know its the level before 1 ohm. but what does that tell the amp to do? Does it double the Power @ 1 ohm? i dont get it, HELP D:

Helps with getting a bit more power out of the amp. It cuts down on box rise, but then you have greater strain on your electrical and amp

As SnowDrifter said it is mainly a way to compensate for box rise, you should expect power that is either less than or close to the amps 1-ohm rating. At 1-ohm nominal you will never see rated power but that's fine for most systems.
