anyone clamped a BC 5500 and seen what kinda wattage it puts out at .5 ohm? thinking about going with one of those instead of worrying about running 2 Q1 3500 linked on a pair of HDC412s

Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol

It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out.

Do you mean clamped? I hope so because I sure as hell wouldn't want to intentionally clip that amp lol.

why?

just get d1 coils and wire to 1

cuz .5ohms is moar powrrr!! :P it's .5 ohm stable and I know the subs can handle more than just the 5800 that these put out at 1ohm... so was just wondering what it can do at .5... not saying for sure I'm going to do it just asking what it can do.

damn I just realized... I couldn't get a pair of HDC412s to .5 ohm if I wanted to lol they only come in D1...

that's good. saves you from doing something stupid.

they're stable to .5ohm how is that stupid?

It makes everything run hotter and less efficient.

And with you beeing relatively new to car audio it seems, people are gonna advise you to stay within "safe" limits.

Would you have the electrical to back it up?

Clips easier(very bad for your coils), Efficiency takes a huge dive, hotter internal from higher current flow. Takes more power to make the power. I like to run my amps at 2ohm when possible since its way more efficient then at 1ohm which means i need less power to make the same power
