Im late to the show, lol.

awesome build, gives me something to look forward to when i can finally start my sealed trunk build, started a build log in the summer and due to life, never go to do much with it.

I have an 05 stratus and also sealing the trunk, its nice to see how it can turn out, i also plan to keep a factory look, except for the doors, i did get the bottom of the doors fiber-glassed, but wrapped to match the interior.

I'd enjoy looking through build pics. Love me a stratus build. Got a link or not yet?

I am currently in the process of build a setup quite like yours :) Instead of running the SQ2200, I'm currently looking at the CT Sounds AT1400.1. It runs 1800RMS @ 1ohm 14.4V. I figured a box with your dimensions would work nicely, as you say it was built with excessive power in mind (Far over the SDC2.5 12's RMS) However, I'm afraid that the interior difference will drastically change its performance? I own a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer, so the acoustics are FAR from that of your Dodge. Do you have any insight, or recommendations for my box design?

Nice build man! Great ideas too. I didnt read all the post but if you've not fixed the leak why dont you try that infomercial black spray stuff. I forget the name but its basically rhino lining in a can and waterproof. I think its like $20 for two cans you might find it at lowes or home depot.

I am no box expert whatsoever. That's why I had my box designed. But you are correct acoustics are different. I chose to fire forward and in hatchbacks/SUVs you want to fire rear most of the time. If I were you, I would fire the subs up and port to the rear. Not sure if the same kind of port would work in that application or not. If you are truely worried about it all, hit up RAM designs or any other box designer and see what they could come up with.

Hey thanks! And yeah I found that pesky leak. It came in through some plastic rivits I believe they were. I circled it in one of the pics

Just looked through your whole build and I gotta say man I love the way everything flows so nicely. Im suprised how close that carpet matches the oem color.

A fellow ohioan also I see :)

That sun visor clip problem sucks, happened to me alot but it's an easy fix. Head over to pull a part and grab your self a hand full of em just in case you need them in the future.

Looks good man cant wait to see more of your work

Awesome build! I'm actually intrigued by your method of sealing the box off and would like to use a similar design in my challenger… how did you go about mounting the triangular "beauty" panels of the front side to the rest of the box? and how did you actually secure your box to the car? I'm debating on where I need to screw the box down in my trunk.

09 Challenger R/T (Audio system under construction):

  • Pioneer AVH-X4500BT (PAC RP4CH11 harness)
  • (2) Sundown Audio SA-8v2 (inverted)
  • CT Sounds AT1400.1D
  • XS Power D3400
  • 40 sq ft. Audiotechnix deadener
  • 1/0 Audiotechnix wiring
  • stock Boston Acoustic 7 speaker amplified system (for now)
  • Sealed trunk enclosure

Those triangle pieces are attached to the side of the box. I left about 3 inches of overhang. glued/screwed it to the side. I had to actually put the left side in (looking at the box from inside) first then the right. Or else it just wasn't gonna happen lol. Below is when those boards are secured to the screw holes in the side. Not glued obviously lol

Here is how the box is secured to the car. I drilled 4 holes on either side.

ooh i see. I assumed the triangular pieces had to be attached to the box somehow but i wasn't sure because it looked like in the early parts of the build that you would take it all out in several pieces instead of it all together. Looks like I'm going to have to take a grinder to the edge that you bolted those triangular pieces on because its not flat like yours. Mines probably going to be a tad more challenging to install but I definitely want to use your idea for the sealed aspect of the box.

How do you plan on removing the box now that its all together one piece if you do need to take it out?
