DubNDodge Posted April 14, 2014 Author Report Posted April 14, 2014 So I ordered that mechman few weeks ago, and it came the week after. Had it sitting around for awhile waiting until I had the free time to install it. Well I conquered that today along with pulling a sub Something is up with my left one. Few days ago on the drive home from college, I noticed a weird noise above 40hz. As the ride continued it got worse and also could notice it at lower frequencies. Not sure what the hell it is. I thought dust cap at first, but that didn't make sense. I thought triple joint, but when I pulled it and put it on my test bench I didn't see any issues. So going to get my RMA number tomorrow and ship it in. All I can say is that alternator was a bitch. Top mounting bolts were okay. Bottom one sucked. Compressor was in the road, and only could turn the wrench 1" at a time. So I barely broke it loose and just used my fingers to get it. Needless to say I have hella blisters on my finger and thumb now lol. Next thing that sucked was getting it out of the engine bay. Hoses and wires in the road, along with not having enough room as it was. All I can think was that it was supposed to drop down and out. But I didn't feel like messing with the compressor. Looks like I had stock hairpin Also here is a funny video. I unscrewed and took out all the bolts holding on the sub. I expected it to drop down a bit after I removed the last one. Nope. Tried pulling on it, nope. Tried wanging on it. Nope. Eventually I just took a flat head and pushed it under it to break the seal. Weird how it would stick to the carpet like that. I'll also get a video up of the first fire up with the alternator. It's uploading right meow. dangaranga Posted April 14, 2014 Report Posted April 14, 2014 I recognise that noise from the sub. My old mtx subs both made that exact noise. I later found that the basket had bent or the motor shifted and caused the inner diameter of the former to rub on the pole piece. Thats kinda funny how is was stuck to the carpet.
