Nicolas Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 I had a small budget system in my car, then I sold my ipod touch and bought some subs from someone on craigslist. So some of my things might be really off compared to what I have hooked up now. heres a list of things I have -8 gauge copper wire from battery to amp in trunk -8 gauge copper wire from amp to ground -1200 watt rms amp Boss DD3600 RMS Power Rating: 4 ohms: 1350 watts x 1 chan. 2 ohms: 1850 watts x 1 chan. -3 kenwood 12's 1200 watts rms -All three in one sealed box -16 gauge wire from amp to subs My lights dim when bass hits, so i decided to buy some bigger power wire and use left over for big 3 I went to the store to buy 20 feet of 2 gauge wire but it ended up being 41 dollars and only had 35 :/ I want to hook my old amp up along with the new one and connect the subs I have in the cabin for mids. Overall I want to make sure everythings ok for the subs I have now before I hook up the mids. So what should I buy, the power wire? Also I have a ported box for 2 subs tuned at 40 hz. Im not sure what this new box is but its sealed and holds all 3 subs. I just want some shaking bass, should I use the 3 12s in a sealed or 2 in ported.
Nicolas Posted February 18, 2013 Author Report Posted February 18, 2013 Ill have to take the subs out of the box and put them in the ported box. That way I can see what model subs, if they are dual voice coil and what ohms they are at.
ElCompaTiny Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Sell That Boss Amp Its A Piece of Shit....truth hurts
Pioneerchuck Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Save up until you can afford to do it right with some quality products. But I would definitely upgrade the amp and wiring and then make sure youre not clipping everything to hell.
Krakin Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 X2 save up for some quality products. But if you really want something going now. Try selling that amp and pick up that 8105d as a first step. Also upgrade your wiring. Of course hook up those mids first. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
ric006 Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Get a Credit Card and order parts pay off slowley if you can you dont need a 10000 dollar system but a good grand can get you some decent stuff and if you plan on upgrading in the future to a bigger system again then you want to put some 0ga in your car then you can break it down to 4 by the amp and if your dimming already then get a XS,Kinetik batteryfor the trunk

Nicolas Posted February 18, 2013 Author Report Posted February 18, 2013 I got this system from a really sketchy guy on craigslist, but everything went good. Im happy for the system that cost me my ipod touch. Its pretty loud and actually shakes me now. So im planning on buying a bigger power wire and with left over wire ill do the big 3. After that ill hook up my mids.
