What do all these knobs do.

You set the gain to match the output from your head unit. You can only do this using an O-scope or a dd1

level=gain

Phase=phase shift.

Bass EQ=magic smoke knob. Don't use this one.

EDIT: the only two knobs you should worry about are the level (set with a DD-1 or Oscope, otherwise don't go past 10~oclock) and the Low pass (if you're using a ported box)

Even if he's set 10 o'clock it can still clip if he has high pre out voltage
