Hey quick question. I have a 4 channel amp and am lookin to replace my crapy 3 way speaker in my front doors only. should i just buy 2 6.5 mids and 2 tweeters, running these directly to the amp. or get a set with the crossovers ? Do i really need the crossover that comes with a componet set ? I was looking at the Rockford T2s . Thanks for any advice you can give.

yes you need the crossovers other wise bass and mids will be going to your tweets and thatll eff them up

Ok, i thought i could use the crossover on the amp to block the bass...Thanks

Yes, you need crossovers. Your mids and tweeters will play different frequencies. The mids might go from 100-3500hz, and your tweeters from 3500 and up - just as an example. Turn your high pass filter on the amp up enough to make your mids happy and you blow your tweeters. Turn it up enough to make the tweeters happy and you have no mids.

Make sense?

Yes, Kinda... Im just confused because my 4 channel has 2 crossovers on it... So when i get these componets ( Ill apolgize now for the questions) What frequency is a good starting point ^ The lower end of what you said . I honestly have no idea. Also will i only need two channels on the amp for the set.. Ha thats all for now, ill have more questions later im sure..

Just set your amp pass to about 80 crossovers will do the rest

I have the rockford T2's. if your looking for loudness these could be something your wanting to some extent... I dont like the harsness at high volumes though. And the mid bass's are muddy down low. Im switching to soft down neo tweeters. Never again aluminum dome. My next plan is to get 4 crescendo pwx's (great down low, no muddiness, sound great) and hertz HT25 tweeters.

To answer your question, i think mixing up mids and tweets is the way to go.i have audioque mids and RF tweets in my rear doors and i like that set up better than my front doors. Lmao.

Get 2 crossovers per door. HP for mid range, and LP for tweets. Then just use you LP on your amp for you mid

next time buy product that has a strong package rather then weak points.

I dont like the HT25 tweeter myself, and prefer a larger soft dome ie ht28/AV1.1/ML280

when having one of the 3 aforementioned tweeters the mids that come with them all are AWESOME.

I'm hoping your meaning 4 sets of ht25 tweeters to go with 4 sets of mids.

You don't NEED passive crossover's. Generally you do, but not always. OP, you do have a 4-channel amp and the ability to go active. IF your amp's HPF has a high enough range (most amps that do have a "x10" switch on the crossover) you can do all of the work in the amp. That's actually the better route. But again, your HPF needs to be able to at least get up in the 2500-3000hz range.

Also, I too am a fan of getting mids and tweeters individually. Just makes it easier to tailor it to what you like

Just remember that the passive crossovers with compnents don't block bass for the mids, they only low pass to the mids and high pass to the tweeters. If you have an amp with a HPF you can just run the amp to the crossovers with the amps HPF at around 100hz and you should be good to go.

You can go full active but if you don't know what that involves and have a good signal processor or a good e.q. it could be worse that way.

The t2's passive crossovers have a network built in that will help take the harshness out of the tweeters.

If you really like a lot of treble then the t's are probably what you want, other wise i would go with the t1's. Same power handling but with silk dome tweeters.

Yeah lots of info... My amp only HPs at 1k . So im probably going to just run them as passive . use just two channels off the 4 channel and see how it works out for me, Sound wise. I do like Crispy tweets though. And anything has to be better then the 2 way kenwoods i have now.. If i hate it i will try to make my tweets on front channels and mids on rear chanels. My Hu( Pioneer deh 7800mp) has 3 sets of 5 volt outs and time alinment and a 15 band eq< I think thats what it is.

Another question. So if i set my HP on amp to around 100hz, what do i set the crossover/filter to on my HU, Pass ? Let the amp do the work or use both i think my HP on my deck only goes from 80 to 125 though...Im going to look after this post.
