Tweeter mounting location

Recommended Posts

I was playing around with ideas on where to mount my tweeters. Various places on the door, console, dash, and A pillars.

What sounded the best, at least to me was either in the center of the dash, facing up. Or on the side of the dash, facing up. The center is easiest for me to get to and mount the tweeters as the sides have defroster vents in the way. There is this little cubby that I never use that would give a nice spot for the magnets to hang down into.

Any thoughts on why I should or should not do it, besides possibly losing some left and right separation, I don't see much of an issue. But, that's why I'm asking lol

center mounted in the dash would look cool, just not sure how it would effect the sound

Apillars are probably your best bet, or sail panels if you have them

I will be running 2 in the dash each corner has a factory speaker location that makes it easy for me though...interested to see what some of the more knowledgeable guys have to say...

i like the other one better. so no want to do A pillars? are you cutting a hole in your dash or mounting it on top of your dash with some kind of fiberglass

My A pillars aren't very big and there is little to no space behind them, I just feel like it would look cockeyed having a huge bulge hanging off for just a tweeter, since I don't have other speakers to put in there

I haven't decided whether I want to put them in the dash or make a pod and have them face towards me. It seems like they are a bit less harsh facing up towards the windshield, so if there isn't anything under neath then I'll probably put them in the dash
