Noel989
If you have 5 volts the gain should go that high But the best way to check is with a dd-1 or oscope I would recommend you buying a dd-1 it's really easy to use and it's not that expensive Quote Build Log - http://www.stevemead...-cruiser-el-pt/

scoobywrx05
Did you check the wiring on the subs? Rca connections at the amp and back of the deck?
sundownz
It's very difficult to thermally damage an SA series woofer ; I'd go as far as to say that it almost cannot be done "by accident" without hearing severe signs of stress. Are you indicating that the woofers had VERY little output and also smelled ? If so you likely have coils wired out of phase; which will rapidly fry them. In order to diagnose anything we would need DMM readings and pictures of how the wires go from the woofers to your amp to attempt to figure it out. Big-A
What does gains set half way mean? I'm guessing you we're clipping and feeding them twice the rated power. Big-A
Most quality drivers can take over rated power but it has to be clean. Big-A
He not talking about the signal being out of phase he's talking about the coils on each driver being out of phase of each other.
