Avery Howell
Are 55w HIDs going to put out to much heat in my fog lights? 2012 Jeep Wrangler 3.6 W/ 6 Speed Build Log 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor 6.2 Build Log YouTube

CommonSyns
I think that HID's give off less heat than halogens? My long range 7" HID's dont get very hot. But they are 35 watts. Or it could melt the housing/lens. I think you would be fine though. Avery Howell
Sweet. Thanks guys! The only reason I ask is because I read somewhere that 55w can melt small housings. 2012 Jeep Wrangler 3.6 W/ 6 Speed Build Log 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor 6.2 Build Log YouTube
CommonSyns
Due to heat build up yes it can happen, no ventilation. Avery Howell
Due to heat build up yes it can happen, no ventilation. Mine are in my bumper, as shown above, could I just remove the housings, drill a small hole in the top and replace them? Or would that allow to much moisture? 2012 Jeep Wrangler 3.6 W/ 6 Speed Build Log 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor 6.2 Build Log YouTube
CommonSyns
Do you off road at all? I would not make a hole that would allow stuff to get in then you would be out however much you payed for your hids. So do you think 55 watts are worth the risk? 2012 Jeep Wrangler 3.6 W/ 6 Speed Build Log 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor 6.2 Build Log YouTube
CommonSyns
Well, with 55 watt hids I'm pretty sure that is like high beam lights for hids. The hids are brighter than normal halogens. You might not be able to use them on the road due to risk of blinding people, even if they are in the stock bumper lights. Most people just run 35 watts hids in fogs so that they can be on all the time, as DRL.
