Edit: Reading > me, I see it now. 50mm max across the line? Need to know how much clearance to leave available with the box I'll be building... want to make sure that 50mm will be enough room for it's outward excursion.

The X motor reaches bottom at 50mm one-way ; so if you hit any more than that the coil would bottom. So yes, that is the limit.
