KiKaZz74
So what cpu should I look for? And will I still get close to same performance? Raptorman
You will get a huge performance boost in highly-threaded programs, but you will lack a bit in programs such as games or whatever that uses 4 cores or less. Rendering will take advantage of all 8 cores, whereas games will only use around 4. the intels have a faster performing chip core-for-core.The best way to get the best of both worlds is to just get an i7, but those are pricey. Here's the AMD 8-core. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284 1996 GMC Sonoma Four Fi BTL Neo 18's In 2:1 6th Order Bandpass 2 Ampere 5k's @ .5 TEAM FI TEAM #LITHIUMCANTDEMO On 10/20/2013 at 0:37 AM, KillaCam said: Fucking with a Prius driver is like making fun of a disabled kid. beaker
An SSD as your main drive will be a huge difference. You're talking about 150megs per second from a plater drive, as opposed to 550 megs a second from an SSD. Right now the hard drive is the number 1 bottleneck in any PC build if you're using platter drives. For rendering, yes, the AMD will be faster, I feel like your upgrade options will be more limited though. With used parts you could easily build a good machine for 600. There are other ways of getting windows, just sayin. Make sure you get 64 bit. I would try to stick with nvidia, though the card you posted is pretty good, most rendering software takes advantage of CUDA, which is NVidia only. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-N470GTX-M2D12-GeForce-1280MB-DDR5-PCI-Express-PCI-E-Dual-DVI-Video-Card-w-/160977218658?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item257afd6c62 Not as fast, but cheaper, and its 320 bit. My personal opinion about the SSD is that you should wait till you have enough money for a nice one with quite a bit of storage 100-200GB. Once again my own opinion. If all you are ever going to put on there is OS and Inventor then you should be fine. And I gotta say that will be a really nice computer. Especially coming from what you have now lol. KiKaZz74
Alright bro. Thank you. :-) if I could get a deal I'd go 60ish gig but now much will be on here. Think this case can be in a kinda closed space or it need to be in open air? Krakin
It should be fine just monitor your temps every now and then. Make sure that it is a case that fits your board. Ex: ATX board ,ATX compatible case. KMS
I also forgot to mention. Corsair's warranty is fan freaking tastic. My TX550 blow out a while back from a shorted USB port on the Motherboard, and Corsair replaced it for free, WITH 100 WATTS MORE! Outstanding!
