Alvi45 Posted March 24, 2013 Report Posted March 24, 2013 please guys dont laugh at this statement im not proud to admit it but it might be helpful. when i first started out with my first system i went to walmart and got a set of sony xplodes i think they were 12s maybe 10s and a cheap amp for around 350. it sounded good at the time because i wasnt used to hearing anything at all but that might be a option to get you started. right now i have 2 12in type r's in a ported box with 2 alpine m500 amps and it sounds really good. you can pick up one 12 and 1 amp and the box for $500 and you will get a decent sounding system. go to a few different audio shops check out everything that they have to offer in your price range to find a good match for what you want. just remember the higher power your system is the more its going to cost. bigger wire is alot more amps cost more subs cost more. hope that helps everyone starts somewhere lol sometimes people forget. welcome to smd
Tim Osburn Posted March 24, 2013 Report Posted March 24, 2013 thanks alvi. yeah its best to start at the bottom and work your way up or atleast it was in my case. i didnt know anything about car audio but after i got those first subs and started to here alittle bit of bass i had to keep going. i got addicted. thats been 12 years ago and now im working on a build trying to hit the 150 mark. i just broke 141db with 2 12s and a 1000 watts so im well on my way.
KMS Posted March 24, 2013 Report Posted March 24, 2013 Go to your local car audio shops and see if they have any old stuff that's not selling and say you'd be interested in it if it's any good. I seen some old Phoenix Gold amps laying under their racks full of dust and some other potential goodies. People that go to car audio shops are mostly just looking for the name brand stuff their friends talk about and have heard for years. Give it a try and see what you can find. I may do that soon actually. ooh* the PG amps were in their boxes still. Alpine PDX-V9 Morel Tempo 6 Alpine SBR-S8-4 Alpine CDE 149BT

Carbon Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 Forget Kicker man, You can get much better for $400. Personally I would raise your budget to $600. That would give you alot more options bro
