Max1636
I'm using my 'old' Fi SP4 from my car to use in my home for home theatre. Super low frequency bass. I'm getting a design from PWK but currently he's busy so I thought I could see what I could get here. Space isn't really an issue so I can accommodate a huge box if necessary. OrzechNJ
why dont u use specs that you have/had in ur car ? sometimes Loud is NOT pretty Sounds like its safe to go ahead and bend that ass over.
Max1636
why dont u use specs that you have/had in ur car ? Because the sub needs to be tuned differently for this application. In my car it was tuned to be loud, in the home it needs to be tuned to be loud. KiKaZz74
Don't you have to account for room size and up it since its not tiny like a car. And tune lower to hit lower notes. Btw. OrzechNJ
I would rather that it plays lower than louder.. sometimes Loud is NOT pretty Sounds like its safe to go ahead and bend that ass over.
bkolfo4
If you have enough space, 14 cuft tuned to 19 Hz would be very nice. 8 cuft at 22 Hz would be my minimum. Anything in between works. Current system: 1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s Previous systems: 2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz. 1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz. caraudionoob
I was thinking about building another box for the SP4 18 for home theater use too, since I won't be able to put it in my car until much later. If anyone can suggest a box that would be great! Thanks in advance. This might be better received in the Pro Audio / Home Audio subforum.
Max1636
^ I realized I made a mistake I said I wanted it to be loud twice. I meant to say in the home theatre build I want it to play low. For now I will be using an Electro-Voice CP1200 to power it. Max1636
I've no good at designing boxes which is why I usually go to PWK Designs. Would somebody be able to come up with a box design? I'll happily do a build log of it which could be interesting.
