Adjustable Voltage

Recommended Posts

Hopefully this is in the right place,

I'm looking into having a bigger alt. built for my Suzuki samurai from Rush Power Systems, he advises using a Dial a Volt external regulator to adjust on the fly from 14-16 volts for a 250 amp alt. My question is , don't amps usually have an internal regulator to not use anything over "say" 14 volts ?

Depends on the amp.

I told him I turn my system down at lights for respect of others so he suggested since I do that to use the regulator so when Im playing it at higher volumes I can turn it up and when Im at the lights I can turn it down. I have 5 gears to shift already, I don't want to have to adjust that.

I have a mono amp for the subs but I have a 4 channel for the highs.

Thank You guys.

Why go through the hassle of adjustable voltage...how much more power will you actually get...2v at 1000w on 12v will get you less then 200w. Why not get a slightly bigger amp..save the hardship on you batteries and have the little extra power...just my two centa

Not sure if I really understand the OP, But I would stick with 12V system.

I'm on 14V system right now and it was a pain in the ass to find a component amp that could handle 16V while charging.

Not to mention the price of the 14V batteries oh lawd

Funny you mention that ha. Nothing at all.
Mechman had told me the PCM can handle up to 19V and so I didnt use anything.
Recently actually have been having a no spark issuw which I thought forsure was a PCM failure, but it was unrelated
