96Blazer Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Well see how this post goes with my phone as this is my first time doing such a thing. Either way I am looking for a subwoofer upgrade from my current p3 15 RF. I would like to keep my box at or just above the seat or window line but would also like to use 4 18's of at all possible. The 18's in question are Dayton audio classics found on parts express. Is this an option for me considering my vehicle (01 jimmy)? 2001 GMC Jimmy SLE 4X4 Floor Shift AutoHeadunit - Alpine CDA-117Front Door Speakers - Alpine SPS-600C MidsRear Door Speakers - NoneDash Speakers - Alpine SPS-600C TweetersSub Amp - Rockford Fosgate T4002Mids+Highs Amp - Rockford Fosgate P4004Subwoofer - P3D215 Fosgate Punch 15Sub Box - Rockford Fosgate designed "powerful" ported box Built by myself i would rather run cheaper but sexier then expensive and fucking ugly.
john253a Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 sealed your still pushing it youll even strugle doing a wall with that car just spend you $500 on 1 or 2 good 18's or 15's sell you current p3 and amp and get something making 15-2k and youll be sweet

96Blazer Posted April 3, 2013 Author Report Posted April 3, 2013 Damn. I was hoping I'd have a shot sealed. I'd like to stick to about a 5-600$ dollar budget and have some good cone area... 2001 GMC Jimmy SLE 4X4 Floor Shift AutoHeadunit - Alpine CDA-117Front Door Speakers - Alpine SPS-600C MidsRear Door Speakers - NoneDash Speakers - Alpine SPS-600C TweetersSub Amp - Rockford Fosgate T4002Mids+Highs Amp - Rockford Fosgate P4004Subwoofer - P3D215 Fosgate Punch 15Sub Box - Rockford Fosgate designed "powerful" ported box Built by myself i would rather run cheaper but sexier then expensive and fucking ugly.
Kevin M Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 If they are the dsc-450s like mine they will need ~5.5 cu sealed and 6 ported. I have four of them in a 22-23cu. Wall You won't be winning any spl comps with them either. I would imagine 2 OA subs would crush them as far as output goes. That being said they aren't bad speakers but the low xmax and power handling will put a shelf on anyone's expectations. I have mine on ~325 watts a piece and I'm happy with them. 2005 Ford Focus zx4 AMT's and Planars 18" Infinite baffle
96Blazer Posted April 3, 2013 Author Report Posted April 3, 2013 I'm not looking for anything too crazy but figured despite the lack of power handling and Xmax that using 4 of them could get me what I was looking for. I also figured with the low xmax they might work in a small air space then most other 18's. All in all I would like to move some air! 2001 GMC Jimmy SLE 4X4 Floor Shift AutoHeadunit - Alpine CDA-117Front Door Speakers - Alpine SPS-600C MidsRear Door Speakers - NoneDash Speakers - Alpine SPS-600C TweetersSub Amp - Rockford Fosgate T4002Mids+Highs Amp - Rockford Fosgate P4004Subwoofer - P3D215 Fosgate Punch 15Sub Box - Rockford Fosgate designed "powerful" ported box Built by myself i would rather run cheaper but sexier then expensive and fucking ugly.
john253a Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 pre order subdown x 330 for the 15 350 for the 18 2x x15 will do some damage on the right power in the right box and you should have no problems getting 8net close on window line
Kevin M Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 I have no doubt you could probably pull a 50 out of them in the right box. As far as air movement goes I hope were not talking about violent hairtricks. Lol with the low Bl and xmax I don't see it happening. I do have door flex on some decaf tracks under 30hz so it is moving some air and I'm not even running rms to them. I guess it could be pretty nasty. 2005 Ford Focus zx4 AMT's and Planars 18" Infinite baffle
96Blazer Posted April 3, 2013 Author Report Posted April 3, 2013 I wasn't thinking hair tricks just moving more air and possibly being louder then my current set up although the sundown x 15's for the pair is a bit over my liked budget I could swing it and atleast be the comfortable in knowing I've got some quality subs that ought to get down alright. What kind of air movement are we talking with a pair of those on say 1krms to start? Subs up port back would be my preference 2001 GMC Jimmy SLE 4X4 Floor Shift AutoHeadunit - Alpine CDA-117Front Door Speakers - Alpine SPS-600C MidsRear Door Speakers - NoneDash Speakers - Alpine SPS-600C TweetersSub Amp - Rockford Fosgate T4002Mids+Highs Amp - Rockford Fosgate P4004Subwoofer - P3D215 Fosgate Punch 15Sub Box - Rockford Fosgate designed "powerful" ported box Built by myself i would rather run cheaper but sexier then expensive and fucking ugly.
Kevin M Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 I have no idea to be honest. The only time I ran two of these was an infinite baffle setup and that was on 240 watts. Lol I can't really give any expectation of loudness and enclosure design is well out of my range of expertise. I wouldn't run more than 1k to a pair. I have heard of people running twice that but on a 3" coil? I would be nervous as hell. Two of the sundown in the right enclosure would most likely trounce 4 of the daytons in output. I would recommend two daytons but if you weren't happy you would just want to upgrade again. The budget is a little more but sounds like just what you need. 2005 Ford Focus zx4 AMT's and Planars 18" Infinite baffle
