-X-RaTeD-
I want to build my box out of birch ply because of the weight savings over MDF. Has anyone built a box using a sheet of this "Tonmik 3/4 Top Choice Birch Hardwood" from Lowes? http://www.lowes.com/pd_37985-99899-37985_0__?productId=3658234 $46 a sheet locally. Ideally, I'd like to find a 4'x8' sheet of this locally, http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=24530 14 ply's, all inner sheets solid birch, but $33 shipped for only a 24"x32" sheet, I'd need 6 sheets for my box, $165 shipped to my door, but a lot of the wood would be wasted... Anyone know a source in central Florida for 3/4" 14 ply solid birch 4'x8' sheet? If not, what do you think about that Lowes sheet? Thanks When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. skittlesRgood
the stuff from lowes and home depot will work but I'd only use it for smaller boxes or medium sized ones with a middle slot port. for a bigger build I would get the 14 ply sheets. you wont find it at a big store though. you need to go to a lumber yard. just search around on google for one. If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood. -X-RaTeD-
Yeah, going to be a sealed box for one 18, leaning towards the 14 ply sheets if I can find them. I found one lumber mill in my city on Google, I'll check them out. When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. purplesyrup
You could get much better results, and likely take up a lot less space running a 12 in a ported enclosure, or even a 15 in ported
Zapanater
Well, I don't claim to be an expert on wood, but I work at Menards and I know we carry it. 14 ply birch. We carry 7 ply to. I think the 7 ply is about 45 bucks a 4x8 sheet. If you're looking for an expert on wood I suggest you visit your local brothel. I'm amazed at the lack of trolling this thread.
