Can anyone point me in a good direction?

I'm a rookie so be a little easy on me  I was wondering, How would I go about matching up subs to an amp. It's so confusing to me and I have spent some time looking up rather complicated explanations. Can anyone point me in a direction so I can buy a couple subs and start a project this summer?

Go by RMS ratings of each. Don't be that noob that wants to throw an NS-1(6500W amp) at a couple of Sundown SA8s(rated at 500W RMS a piece, so 1000W of total RMS power handling) just because you saw a YouTube video of a guy that could. So if you have 2 600W RMS subs, get an amp that is rated at 1200W RMS. If you are buying 2 subs, buy ones that are Dual 4 ohm coils and then wire them in parallel(all positives wired to one positive output on the amp and all negatives wired to one negative on the amp) and wire to 1 ohm(if the amp you choose does 1200W RMS at 1 ohm). Make sure to do Big3 which there is a tutorial here on the forum for. Any other questions, post them up. Welcome to the forum, enjoy :)

just make sure your amp power = requirded power at final ohm load

for example the aq3500.1 for the price is a very good amp ($430 on sale at moment)

4 ohm power @ 12V @ 1% THD 750W x 1 4 ohm power @ 14.4V @ 1% THD 1400W x 1 2 ohm power @ 14.4V @ 1% THD 2600W x 1 1 ohm power @ 14.4V @ < 1% THD

4300W x 1

so for the same expamle above useing 2x sa8 at 500 a piece if you were to have a final load of 4ohm (d4's) for the 2 subs

this amp is perfect even no it is 3500rms amp as it only makes 750-1400 @12-14.4v

the other good thing about getting a larger amp is the upgrade fether leater on

as you get get another 2-6 subs and if you no what your doing up to 16x d4 or single 2 @0.5ohm (350rms a piece approx)

another thing to remember is you dont pick the size and quanty of the subs, your box and car do

you only pick the brand

the mld is determind buy the power supply and amps

John, edit your amp. You said 3500, you meant 2200 :)

You're specs are appropriate, but the price is that of a 2200

-Edited for correction on John's name I've been getting wrong since the beginning of time. Sorry John, never again

o wewll back to its 800 price now, sorry for that

and you always do it, spell my name wrong

Whoa, I am spelling your name wrong. 1000 apologies sir. And I don't know any girls with that name JOHN, so there is no disrespect that was ever meant by it. If the 3500 was on sale for that price, I wish I knew, I would have bought 2 of them :(

only thing I'd add? get a good brand. don't get something that you've never heard of basically. They can be good as some/most people never hear of things such as DC (i know i didn't until I joined here). But things such as like rockford? you hear it everywhere, it's known, it's good. AQ is good, ect. Just don't get somethin that you've never heard of like liquidcool or something that just sounds made up (idk if there's a brand named that, just made it up haha)
