In all honesty: how much over rated you can go is dependent on... Well... You. Can you design a box to give you the mechanical control you need? Can you tune your amp so it will put out clean power? Do you have the restraint to not go full tilt all the time? Do you know your equipment well? Do you know when to turn things down? Etc.....

I've ran 6x rms to a sub and never had an issue. I'm talking about amp power, not clamped power. Just because me, or anyone else did it doesn't mean everyone can
