Looking To Black Out The Escalade...

Recommended Posts

I am looking to black out every single thing on my Escalade before the end of the month. I would atleast like to try it myself, since alot of the pieces will be easy with a couple of exceptions (The escalade letters, logo, etc). I was curious on what kind of paint I should use and what process I should go through etc. I also am doing my brake lights and my front lights/fog lights, and for that I have heard to use VHT Niteshades. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I like the idea, Rob & Bigs old yukon looked sweet as hell, are you keeping the badges on there?

The front will be removed when I put on the mesh grill but that wont be for a while, the back I would like to actually black out but I dont know how that would work/look. So anyone have some ideas for me? What type of paint atleast?

Yeah badges will just come off, stock wheels are coming off as soon as I get the money for my rims. Im thinking something with alot of spokes would look decent, Ill post a pic at the bottom. As for the roof rack, Im going to see if I can take that off today, see how it looks. I am curious how to get the step up thing below the door black though, also the door handles. Can you just spray paint over that chrome? Does it have to be sanded down?

Here are my thoughts, and hopefully i will see this in person soon to get a better idea......

But removing the emblems completely would be best.

I am sure the roof rack will come off, but probally leave holes that would need to be shaved and smoothed.

Painting that black should really be no problem should you choose to keep it. Painting would be alot less costly and time consuming than shaving and paint blending would be.

I assume you want to keep the running boards there. Painting them up should be straight forward also.

I like the wheels pic you posted. Much better than painted stock wheels. Although I am a fan of polished billet and chrome.

VHT nightshade is made for brake lenses. I rember hearing that it has a little of a redish tint to it, which would look goofy on headlights. Might want to try it on something clear before you do your headlights.

you can cook bacon shirtless if you're not a pussy...lol

not hatin, but am i wrong here it looks as if the amp is not grounded its hooked directly to the battery. it that the way it should be.

That is a really good idea. I agree with everyone just shave the emblems off. As far as ur headlight try to find those headlight covers like this: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product...01/mediaCode-ZX that way you can take them off if you need to. VHT doesn't have a red shade I've used them on headlights before. Also I think you should go totally black so powder coat that chrome black for the full murdered out look.
