Apparently idk how to soldier a terminal..

Recommended Posts

So I was gonna go and quickly soldier a few terminals at the front bat while I was bored. And for some reason the soldier will NOT melt into the wire.. my first thought was ok maybe too thick of soldier. Second thought ok maybe not hot enough. I have got tiny soldier to the point where its too flimsy to push on and that won't even melt into the wire..

I've held the terminal in direct heat for over 5 min. The wire is almost too hot to hold.. and still the soldier will not soak into the wire..

I'm sure I'm missing something and am acting like a tard. After 45 min and not a.single terminal soldiered I was ok I'm losing it f that.

Wtf am I.doing wrong?

Use this:

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Oatey-Safe-Flo-8-oz-Lead-Free-Silver-Solder-290242/100342559

by the pound is usually a better deal. Also use flux. If possible solder were there is no wind. If you are holding the wire while doing this you arent getting it hot enough. Pull the wire out of the car and oat the wire with flux before you put it in the terminal. Put the end in a vise then hit that shit with a torch. You can see the metal change when it starts to get hot. After the terminal is nice and hot hit the wire on the end of the terminal one time then back to the terminal start to feed the solder into the terminal while keeping some heat on the terminal. You need to hands free. Thats how I do it anyway.
