Ram, 2 18's in A STICKERBOMBED 4th! Vids on last page!

Recommended Posts

K time for a new build log. My Corolla's tranny died, and I wasn't putting any more money into it just to see it dump on me one year down the road. Not to mention that little 4 banger with mad spark knock probably shouldn't have been dragging around 600 pounds of gear to and from San Bernardino on a daily basis. So now I've got this nice ol' Ram 1500.

It's a long story how I got this truck, so to keep it simple I'll leave it at this. I'm a lucky SOB and the truck was gifted to me.

Peep the stupid low odometer reading.

Now, this is going to be my daily truck. (for work and school)

With that being said, the goal for this build is to be as stealthy as possible. My aim is to keep everything as stock looking as possible minus the port, some knobs and mesh covers for the door panels. The box will be ported through the rear window.

So, here's the equipment list. Everything underlined has already been acquired.

Substage: 2 Fi SP4 18's
Amp: :peepwall:
Batteries: 2) XS Power XP3000s, d1200 Starting
Mids and Highs: 4 Pyle PCW8S 8" midrange drivers
2 Pyle/Pyramid super tweeters (Same exact tweeter, crossover and all)
Highs Amp: CT Sounds 125.4
Box: 4th order bandpass (44 hz, design courtesy of TBD Mike)
Wire: 3 runs of + and - (Knu Kandy CCA)

Here's some pichurz of what I've got in my possesion. Batterries are in transit (lols crescendo)
Yes I did get pink and yellow wire. Fux wit me.

I'm thinking about slapping a funkypup/Pyle sticker on the dustcap for lulz

They're blank dustcaps. Purchsed these bitches from Ken (orionstang)

Same damn tweeter minus the paint. Only 3 pictured because one is in use.

This is one of the four 8's, currently in use. I'm too lazy to disconnect the other for a picture. The other two are currently being shipped from Parts express.

Again, the goal of this build is to be stealthy. I'm also aiming for "minimally invasive". Kind of like surgery but instead of a scalpel it's bolts and nuts and instead of surgery it's bass. I don't want to do anything permanent to the truck, like cut out the rear wall or something.

Please note that this WILL be a progression. I'm still stacking every paycheck in order to fund this project. The only things left to pay for are the big check things. Need the Amp, Alt and to actually get the box built.

I've got all the fiberglassing materials OTW as I type, so once those things arrive I'll pick up some spare door panels and start the Mids and Highs.

Hopefully I'll be loud this time. :peepwall:

Alrighty, so the only real thing I've done with the truck so far is replace the HU.

20130505_112139_zpsf2514978.jpg

That's my old Kenwood from previous installs. Since I'm going for stealth, I'm actually not keeping the HU there. Putting the stock back there unhooked, and I'm gonna try and shoehorn a single DIN down under here

As for the doors, I've actually got the room for 8's this time.

20130505_112130_zps0bfcd4a1.jpg

Gonna stuff some LC1's down here, 1 for Bass and 1 for Mids and highs. I want to keep the HU at a constant volume setting and adjust it from here, that way I don't need to grab it every time I give a demo.

20130505_112159_zps0002ed3e.jpg

Also, I'll need to look for a HU that's got a remote and iPod compatibilty. Not too hard.

Since this is a single Cab, the window is right ad the back of the headrests. This is where the port will be going.

Once I've got the wood purchased I'll pull that window out and go to town. It'll be a bitch to fab up some removable trim panels.

I'll update again once I get the panels started!

Guna be one stealthy set up. Guna tint the windows on the shell?

Yeah man. Making sure no one can see into the back. Keeping everything as safe as possible. I normally work in some sketchy areas lmao
